Fall Primary Recruitment Week

A structured, week-long experience designed to help you find your chapter before Autumn Quarter even begins. One week. 26 fraternities. Come find your lifetime brotherhood and your home away from home.

THE MOST IMMERSIVE WAY TO RUSH

Primary Recruitment Week is UW IFC's official structured recruitment week, held every September before Autumn Quarter begins. Its purpose is to give you the opportunity to meet all 26 fraternities in a condensed, supported environment, so you can make a confident decision about what house you want to join.

Unlike Informal Recruitment, Primary Recruitment gives you a full schedule, a cohort of fellow Potential New Members (PNMs) going through the same process, and IFC-provided housing and meals for the entire week. All you have to do is show up ready to meet our community.

SIGN-UP AND DEADLINES

AUGUST 15 | IFC Primary Recruitment Scholarships Close

We do not want cost to be a barrier for anyone wanting to participate in Primary Recruitment. However, there is a non-refundable $50 registration fee and additional lodging fees. If you would like to apply for a scholarship to cover some or all of the cost, apply here before August 15th.

AUGUST 22 | Last Day of Primary Recruitment Regular Registration

Sign up by August 22nd to qualify for a refund on your Housing and Food Services (HFS) deposit if you move into a chapter facility.

AUGUST 29 | Last Day of Primary Recruitment Late Registration

If you sign up between August 23-August 29, your UW housing contract can be cancelled, but you will not receive your housing deposit. You don't need to cancel your dorm contract to join a fraternity but many fraternities require first-years to live in the chapter facility.

SEPTEMBER 10-17 | IFC Fall Primary Recruitment Week

Once you sign up for Primary Recruitment, there will be a link to sign up on campus housing during this week. The amount covers the lodging for all nights.

PRIMARY WEEK SCHEDULE

SEPTEMBER 10 | Check-in and Orientation

Arrive, get settled, and attend a group orientation outlining the rules and expectations for both PNMs and fraternities for the week ahead.

SEPTEMBER 11 | Chapter tabling and IFC Community Hangout on Denny Field

All 26 fraternities will be set up on Denny Field so you can casually meet brothers from every chapter. The day ends with a dinner and a community hangout hosted by IFC.

SEPTEMBER 12 | House tours, tailgate, and UW football game

Recruitment Counselors (RCs) lead you through tours of chapter houses on Greek Row throughout the day, capped off with your first UW tailgate hosted by IFC before attending theHusky football game.

SEPTEMBER 13–15 | RC Check-in & Chapter events

Events hosted by individual fraternities at their chapter facilities. This is where you can better understand a fraternity’s brotherhood, culture, and values and see if they align with yours.

SEPTEMBER 16 | Bid Day

Official day for signing your bid from a fraternity that has invited you into their brotherhood, head to Denny Field to meet your new brothers, and move into your chapter house.

SEPTEMBER 17 | New Member Community Day

Meet all the new incoming community members in both IFC fraternities and and Panhellenic (PHA) sororities on Denny Field.

SEPTEMBER 18-20 | Required New Member Programming

Each IFC Chapter has an agreement with the UW that each year the chapter must complete 80% of chapter attendance in programs that cover hazing, alcohol and other drugs, and interpersonal violence. IFC hosts these programs for you right when you become a member so you are set up for success and are educated on these topics before your membership kicks off.

THE BEST WAY TO FIND YOUR FIT

Starting college is a lot: new city, new classes, new people. Primary Recruitment Week is designed to make finding your fraternity feel exciting rather than overwhelming. You'll meet brothers across all 26 chapters, build real connections in a low-stakes environment, and walk into Autumn Quarter already knowing exactly where home is.

Many of UW's most active Greek leaders and alumni say Primary Recruitment Week was the defining moment of their college experience. One week of saying yes can shape the next four years.
