Primary Recruitment

The University of Washington’s IFC Primary Recruitment Week is a structured, week-long experience held prior to the start of the Autumn Quarter, designed to help potential new members (PNMs) find a chapter that aligns with their values and goals. The week begins with a mandatory Recruitment Kickoff, followed by several days of formal house tours and chapter-specific events where PNMs can visit all 26 IFC fraternities. This period allows students to explore various chapter houses on Greek Row, engage in conversations about academic and leadership expectations, and participate in social activities organized by each brotherhood. The process concludes with Bid Day, where PNMs receive and accept formal invitations to join their selected chapter and begin their journey in the Greek community. how it works

Before PRimary Recruitment Week

PNMs who are interested in rushing should sign up for Primary Recruitment through the link on this page. While PNMs are allowed to rush houses during the summer, any PNM who signs then must participate in Primary Recruitment Week. Additionally, PNMs must sign-up prior to August 22nd to qualify for an HFS deposit refund. Any PNM who signs up after August 29th cannot get their housing contract cancelled, but cancelling your housing contract is not required to be in a fraternity. Housing and food arrangements will be covered by IFC during the week.

DURING PRIMARY RECRUITMENT WEEK

Primary Recruitment will take place prior to school starting from September 10th to September 16th. The week will be structured as such:

September 10th: Check-in and Orientation, PNMs will check in and attend an orientation that will detail rules and expectations for both PNMs and fraternities

September 11th: Tabling and IFC BBQ on Denny Field, All 26 fraternities will table on Denny Field, allowing PNMs the opportunity to meet brothers from all IFC fraternities, leading into a barbecue

September 12th: House Tours, Tailgate, Football Game, Recruitment Counselors will conduct house tours for PNMs throughout the day, culminating in a tailgate and football game.

September 13th-15th: Chapter Events, Invite-only events hosted by fraternities at the fraternity facilities

September 16th: Bid Day, Final day of Primary Recruitment Week where PNMs will sign a bid from the house they choose and meet them on Denny Field. PNMs will then move into the fraternity facility
