Joining a fraternity
Incoming students typically join during Summer recruitment, right before their Freshman year starts. However, all students, from current freshmen to seniors, are welcome to rush at any point! Our fraternities recruit using both our official Fall Primary Recruitment week and Informal Recruitment year-round.
FALL PRIMARY
Fall Primary Recruitment offers a more structured format to recruitment where you can visit houses, attend their events, live in the dorms for a week and finally move into your preferred house at the end. Fall Primary registration closed August 25th.
This year’s recruitment week will be September 6th-11th.
You can still sign up for informal recruitment with the button below, but you won’t have access to the full Fall Primary Recruitment. You’ll still be able to rush at events hosted by houses.
INFORMAL RECRUITMENT
Fill out this form with your information and house rush chairs will be in touch with you shortly. Sign up today and start your journey through Greek Life at UW!
“Joining a frat has been the greatest decision I’ve ever made at UW. ”
Informal Recruitment:
This is an independent unstructured process you navigate at your own pace. To express interest in joining a fraternity, you can sign up on the interest form linked below, and fraternity recruitment chairs will reach out to you.
You can also browse the fraternity profiles here and contact recruitment chairs directly. During informal recruitment, you can attend recruitment events as you please and build relationships with each fraternity and its brothers (members). These events can range from house tours to barbecues, game nights, and athletic activities.
Typically a fraternity will have you out 3 or 4 times to see if you’re a good fit with the brotherhood before extending a bid (invitation to join). Once you sign a bid, you have joined the fraternity and this will be the end of your rush process.
Why should I join A frat?
From a cheaper cost of living, to building lifelong friendships, to developing professionally and academically, joining a fraternity has many positives that make for an unforgettable college experience. Many alumni say that their undergraduate years would not have been the same without their fraternity, and we hope that it’ll be the same for you!
