Your place in Greek life starts here
Joining a fraternity is one of the most transformative decisions you can make at the UW, and it's open to all students, from incoming first-years, transfer, and upperclassmen.
HOW JOINING A FRATERNITY WORKS
Rushing a fraternity means getting to know a brotherhood: attending their events, spending time with their members, experiencing their culture, and seeing if it's the right fit for you. There's no pressure and no commitment until you're ready.
Most incoming students choose to rush during summer and Primary Recruitment, right before their first year on campus. Living in the chapter facility your first year is typically expected from all chapters because it provides the opportunity to stay connected with your members and develop your support system while you transition into college life. However, there's no deadline, so students at any stage in their academic career can join a fraternity throughout the year.
CHOOSE THE ROUTE THAT WORKS FOR YOU
Whether you want a structured week-long experience or the flexibility to rush on your own timeline, there's a path for you.
Fall Primary Recruitment
A dedicated recruitment week each fall that is hosted by the IFC, where you go through the recruitment process with other potential new members, learn about all University of Washington fraternity chapters, attend chapter-specific and community events, have a recruitment counselor as a mentor, and more. You have the option to move right into your fraternity house after bid day. This is an all-in-one focused experience.
Informal Recruitment
Rush at your own pace, year-round. Fill out the interest form, and fraternity recruitment chairmen will reach out, or browse and contact chapters directly.
MORE THAN A PLACE TO LIVE
From a more affordable cost of living to lifelong friendships and real professional development, fraternity membership shapes your college experience in ways that last well beyond graduation. Learn more information about each recruitment process below
