Hello! My name is Deneil Betfarhad, and I am the current Director of Recruitment for the UW’s Interfraternity Council. On behalf of the IFC, I am writing to express my excitement as you consider joining our diverse community.

Coming from a small rural high school, I knew finding a tight-knit community was crucial on a larger campus like UW. For me, I found this sense of belonging through joining a fraternity. I had never considered joining until the summer before my freshman year, but after I met all the welcoming members of our IFC community, I realized that a fraternity was the right choice. Membership for me has meant countless leadership opportunities, academic support, access to scholarships, and most importantly, a community where I can be myself.

Joining a fraternity will allow you to develop your leadership skills, connect with an immensely successful alumni network, and have access to academic mentors and materials unlike any other. Within a fraternity, there are many leadership positions that you can serve in. Fraternity members also receive a wealth of opportunities for professional advancement. These opportunities range from networking events provided by their own chapters to job opportunities offered by the alumni of a fraternity. It is no surprise that men in our community go on to work at Fred Hutch Cancer Research, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Amazon, Apple, SpaceX, and JP Morgan Chase.

I cannot think of a better addition to your college experience than joining a fraternity. Whether you’re a first-generation student or come from a long legacy of Greek life, there is, undoubtedly, a fraternity you can call home. If you are curious about what Greek life could do for you or have any additional questions, check out some of the frequently feel free to shoot me an email at ifcjoin@uw.edu.

Best of luck with your recruitment process!

Thank you, and Go Dawgs!
