Housing & Cost of Living
Fraternity residential housing is a tradition at University of Washington spanning more than 115 years. Fraternity chapters house up to 20 percent of the incoming male freshmen class each year and give students the unique opportunity to live alongside brothers.
Chapter houses hold between 15 - 110 students comfortably. Many include amenities including chefs, weight rooms, libraries, quiet study rooms, common living areas, basketball courts, on-site laundry facilities, spacious dining areas, high-speed wireless internet and more.
Living in a fraternity chapter house is usually less expensive than living on-campus. If you have already signed up for a residence hall, you may be eligible to receive a full refund of your deposit upon joining a fraternity.
For incoming freshmen/transfer students, who join a fraternity and are reported to IFC by August 31st, Housing & Food Services (HFS) will cancel their housing application/assignment and grant a full refund of their housing deposit. Continuing students who join a fraternity are responsible for cancelling their housing application and are responsible for the cancellation charges based on their cancellation date.
