About Delta Upsilon
Delta Upsilon was founded at Williams College on Nov. 4, 1834. We are the sixth oldest men’s fraternity and the first to be founded as non-secret. Delta Upsilon was never intended to be “just another fraternity.” From the Fraternity’s very beginnings, it strived to be something different.
The Washington Chapter of Delta Upsilon originally opened Dec. 9, 1910, as the first DU chapter in the Pacific Northwest. We restarted our chapter at UW in the fall of 2023 and have many opportunities for leadership roles for new members. Our chapter house is located at 4508 19th Avenue NE and was renovated in summer of 2024. It sleeps up to 64 men with no sleeping porch and single and double occupancy rooms available. Meal plans are also available in our commercial kitchen located in the chapter house. In addition, we have parking spots available for brothers with cars on campus.
As a Fraternity, Delta Upsilon frames everything we do around our Four Founding Principles: The Promotion of Friendship, The Development of Character, the Diffusion of Liberal Culture and The Advancement of Justice. We look for men of character who promote friendship and well-being, who recognize and celebrate what makes each of us different and unique. Above all else, we need men who are committed to The Advancement of Justice. The Four Founding Principles are what we as DUs strive to live by not only during our collegiate career, but throughout the rest of our lives.
Put simply, Delta Upsilon builds good men who are difference makers. The experiences we offer are relevant and better prepare men for the world than the typical college experience. We are proud of what our Fraternity stands for, and we proudly share that with others. No secrets required.
