About Sigma Nu
The brothers of the Gamma Chi chapter of the Sigma Nu Fraternity would like to wish you a warm welcome here at the University of Washington. We are actively rushing new members for our brotherhood and encourage you to contact our rush chairmen for more information.
The Gamma Chi chapter of Sigma Nu established itself at the University of Washington in 1896, making us the oldest fraternity at the University of Washington as well as in the Pacific Northwest. For over 100 years, Sigma Nu has developed leaders based upon the principles of Love, Truth and Honor. We are also founded on the principle of anti-hazing, which is something taken seriously by actives and alumni alike. With over 60 active brothers, Sigma Nu provides undergraduates from around the world the opportunity to thrive academically and learn leadership skills while forging life-long friendships as a part of our close brotherhood.
Our brotherhood takes pride in our academic accomplishments, with a house average GPA of 3.47 this past fall. With the majority of our members making the dean’s list regularly, our chapter knows how to balance schoolwork and staying active in Greek life. Brothers regularly work together in our house library, often mentoring new members in a diverse range of majors.
Outside of schoolwork our members are committed to helping each other develop career skills, leading workshops on resume building, navigating career fairs, and utilizing their networks.
Sigma Nu is proud to be partnered with the Circle of Friends for Mental Health, a charity based in Seattle that has been supporting underprivileged individuals for over 15 years. Additionally, our chapter fields a team every year for the Seattle Brain Cancer Walk to raise money towards cancer research and treatment in honor of our alumnus, Deasy.
