Philanthropy and Community Service
The UW fraternity & sorority community raises over $500,000 a year for local and international charities and organizations.
Each chapter hosts many events throughout the year in order to raise money, usually culminating with a week long philanthropy event. Philanthropy events can range between late-night feeds at the chapter house, flag football tournaments, and canoo races, to date auctions, or dance offs.
Typically, most sorority chapters in the community will participate in a chapter's philanthropy event; while most fraternities will participate in sorority events.
In order to encourage maximum participation at each chapter's philanthropy events, there is a limit of one (1) fraternity philanthropy week per each week.
Court competitions, although they may not be philanthropies, also must go through the same approval process as IFC philanthropy events. Please fill out the philanthropy/event form for your court event and follow the instructions listed there.
