About Phi Kappa Sigma

The Alpha Upsilon chapter of Phi Kappa Sigma was founded at the University of Washington in 1919. In the 100 years since then, our chapter has produced Governors, Generals, and titans of industry. We hold true to our Latin public motto, Stellis Aequus Durando, “Equal to the Stars in Endurance”. Our chapter is routinely recognized by our national fraternity at our biannual Grand Chapter for overall excellence, having received the international awards for most-improved and sustained scholastic excellence.

We are a diverse, dynamic chapter of over 50 active brothers living in a beautiful three story chapter house with adjoining pool. We have one of the largest private gyms in the community, and a large library with 24 hour a day quiet hours. The men in the house are in a wide range of majors and academic disciplines, but create a strong academic atmosphere to ensure that all of our brothers are in a position of success. The brothers of Phi Kappa Sigma enjoy a multitude of activities such as intramural sports, Husky Marching Band, Registered Student Organizations, and weekend getaways. Our brotherhood thrives by men connecting with each other, and all of these activities provide a great opportunity to form a cohesive brotherhood within our house.

Our fraternity philanthropic cause is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and we are proud to have alumni that work for the organization. Our brothers are also involved in other chapters’ philanthropies, such as Delta Gamma’s AnchorSplash which we co-host at our pool. We are proud to support the fundraising efforts of the greater Greek community by regularly attending events hosted by other chapters.
