About Delta Chi

Delta Chi was established in 1890 at Cornell University and now has over 100 chapters nationally. It was founded on the ideal that great advantages result from a brotherhood of university men focused on promoting friendship, developing character, advancing justice, and achieving a sound education. These too were the founding principles upon which the Washington Chapter of Delta Chi formed in 1908, and they continue to guide us today.

It’s an exciting time at our Chapter as we continue to grow our member base. We are also spending over a million dollars during the summer of 2024 renovating the interiors of our House for the new school year. This will be followed by other significant improvements both inside and out in 2025 and 2026. Delta Chi is one of the largest houses at the UW with four floors, 30 bedrooms, sports court, in ground pool, barbeque area, weight room, study room, laundry, alley parking, and the ability to comfortably house over 60 members at full capacity.

Our Chapter is continually evolving to offer opportunities that meet the needs of today’s university men. We are focused on ensuring that each member is valued and respected and that any behavior that is designed to embarrass, humiliate, or bully another is strictly forbidden as is all forms of hazing. Many of our members are out of state or international students and we understand that it can be difficult to develop new friends when first arriving at university. Our aim is to provide that home away from home and make the transition into university life as simple and enriching as possible. At its core, Delta Chi aims to provide an environment which promotes lifelong friendships and brotherhood for its members. We do this by creating a welcoming environment where our members can meet other like-minded men to support and encourage one another throughout our university experience.

As our Chapter is still growing, it offers many unique opportunities that most other fraternities do not. One being the chance for new members to quickly take on senior leadership positions and make a real and meaningful impact on our Chapter’s future success. This may include coordinating with our alumni association, taking on officer roles within the Chapter, or coordinating with the national o\ice of Delta Chi to ensure our Chapter’s continued progression.

Academic success for our members is another key driver. During the year, we have weekly study halls to help each other stay on track with our course work. Our current members have a diverse range of academic interests and majors, including biology, history, engineering, biochemistry, mathematics, public health, business management, and finance. All of which allows for internal mentoring among the members. Because our Chapter has one of the largest alumni bases of any fraternity at the UW, career mentoring is also available. Our alumni represent an expansive range of careers, including C level executives, lawyers, doctors, accountants, engineers, architects, investment services, construction managers, IT specialists, business managers, and many more.

Beyond academics, you will also be able to participate in a wide range of activities with the other members. This includes going to UW football, soccer, and basketball games, joining school clubs such as sailing/windsurfing, debate, and climbing, attending professional sporting events and concerts, and other activities such as hiking, overnight retreats, poker games, and bowling.

Lastly, the men of Delta Chi are very focused on giving back to the community. Since 2006, the national Delta Chi Fraternity and the V Foundation for Cancer Research have worked together to fight cancer. To date, Delta Chi has raised nationally more than $1.9 million for the V Foundation. Locally, our Chapter also raises money for and our members volunteer at the local food bank and homeless shelter, along with helping the environment by participating in trash removal around our community.

This provides just a snapshot of what you can expect as a member of Delta Chi. So, if this interests you and you enjoy leadership challenges along with a desire to make a lasting impression during your university years, Delta Chi may just be the right choice for you.

We look forward to meeting you so that we can further share what makes Delta Chi so special.
